Dear OwnedWellians,

With the tournament fast approaching, it is time to kick out the rankings phase. We will be looking for community input and placing a higher value on the input from active players. How will ranking be done? We will be splitting players up into five tiers. Each tier will have a point value which will impact a teams overall point cap.

TIER 1 La crème de la crème
This tier is reserved for the best players currently participating who can anchor a team. Only a few players will find themselves in this tier.

Team Info:

The unofficial point cap will be 36 points. This could change in the next 48 hours however this will likely be the cap. The 36 points is in relation to a team's starting 5 players. The minimum roster size is 5 and the maximum roster size is 7. A team's point total can exceed 36 points however they may not field a lineup that is over 36 points.

We are hoping for an 8 team tournament however we will be flexible if the team amount is more or less. We will start official team formations on Monday and last minute signups will be accepted until Thursday @ 11:59 pm EST.

I'm just going to make a very limited list for the people who I well know enough to rank.

My suggestion is to put the top 8 players each on different teams, for the most balanced matches. In no particular order for the respective tiers:

Tier 1:
-blimpo - OFFENSE (Good flagrunner, skilled with weapons as well)
-bleh - UTILITY (Best fragger here, can play any position at a top level)
-Bob - DEFENSE (Great aim, defender)
-xios - DEFENSE (Good understanding of the game, versatile defense player)
-cafe - DEFENSE (Great sniper & flak aim, but sometimes overuses the sniper)
-GS3k - MIDFIELD (Very effective with weapons, good aim, very useful midfielder)

Tier 2:
-m3ss - Tier 1 midfielder. Great calls, teamwork, and cover. But I'm still unsure if he's actually playing or not.
-reflex - Great defense

Tier 3:
-Me (ORiON / inceptoS)
-snow (consistent flagrunner, who attacks quickly and repeatedly until he successfully gets out of the base)

I can play instagib ok, never played a normal weapons event, I know the maps in instagib but not normal weapons and could probably hit a shock combo if I stood still

So i'm going to go ahead and use Ph34r's layout. He definitley has one of the most accurate tier setup for whom signed up. I'll flip flop a few players here and there, or add a sidenote beside a player indicating why they are good or what they specialize in.


Tier 1 )

Always your first pick in pugs.

cafe - State of the Art Defense
bleh- - State of the Art Utility
Blimpo - State of the Art Offense
lavak3 - State of the Art Utility
boblocke - State of the Art Defense



Tier 2

T2 players are number 1 picks in pugs, or 2nd, when your T1 players aren't pugging

GS3k - Plays like a Tier 1 with his insane aim, but doesn't specialize in anything, as far as I know
cookiemonster - Good Defense player, consistent
snow - Always a great flag runner, consistent
reflex - Great aim player who can wreck your ass on defense
xios - Great player and leader who can play good defense
Killing - Great defense, Moved to T2 because he's always consistent
Draymith - Long timer who can play good defense
pb - Underrated player who can play pretty much anything
ricochet`- Always a consistent player in CTF


Tier 3

Players who are great but not always a first or second pick in pugs. They can be good enough to play competitively but not lead a team to victory, yet.

dasnaksta - Overall a great player who will play good defense
FALLACY - Quality player who plays consistent. Moved up from T4
nanners - New to the CTF scene, needs to play more, but plays T3 quality matches. Insanely good comms
ph34r - I actually put ph34r on T3, because we don't play with him enough. We know he's good, but I also heard his PC is low end, as well.
Sonic|^ - Consistent long time player.
-inceptoS/0rion- - Great Defense player. His comms are getting better every day. Plays like a T2 some days. Moved up from T4
KingKilla - Good offense. Moved down to T3 because he lacks comms and a mic
Numb - Great utility player, mostly defense
banks334 - GReat player overall, plays good midfield
Darth|UA - Can utilize him to play anything. Great teammate
nvz - Utility player, but I've been playing great, consistent at DEFENSE lately. Good comms. Plays T2 quality Defense some matches, but not consistent yet
khxmz - Good player who will always be consistent
RoOkIe - Great aim. But needs to play more to achieve that T2 status
dazed - Great player overall. Can utilize him
ArC - Utilize him in the midfield or offense. Getting better every day
Infra`- Good utility player. Consistently a good teammate.
HUMPTY - Haven't played against, could only assume
SunnY - Same as above




Tier 4

Good players who will play their roles.

hinterland - Utility player. Good to have on your team. Experienced with all maps.
InfamousRaider - Experienced long time player.

In what universe are humpty, arc, spydee, infamousraider, linoleum, ramdrop, monk, viperzz, sunny, steel, sonic, fallacy, etc tier 4 or 5 in any UT game? You realize all of those guys played weaps in 99 or 2k4 and were really fucking good at it (except ramdrop but he's ramdrop).

From what I've seen, the tiers are pretty damn accurate. Just because a player was good at a past title doesn't mean they are going to be gods gift to this title. Some players adapt, some don't! The tier 3 and above are the ones who are really playing a lot and players you can play the best with on a team. Tier 4 and 5 haven't really adjusted well yet, or haven't played many pugs at all.

Anyhow, it's pretty alpha. Nothing really matters at this point. I just play to have fun and provide feedback on the forums.

T1: In no order.

cafe - Defense - Pros: Good Aim, Comms. Cons: Lacks emotional stability that can mess his game up and poison his teammates moral.

Blimpo - Offense - Pros: Versatile player. Known right now for his powerhouse offense. Can play Mid or D. Cons: I don't hear him often enough on the mic though.

Bob - Defense - Pros: Consistent, Good Aim & Solid Comms. Cons: Doesn't wear pants. It's wierd.

Bleh - Utility - Pros: Versatile player, can play any position above average. Cons: His ping and his mid-game tea breaks.

Snow - Offense - Pros: You need 80 grabs in a game? Get this guy. One of the best runners right now with a good cover guy. Cons: If you piss him off he will turn off his microphone. So don't.

Xios - Defense - Pros: Always a monster on D, his understanding of CTF is superior to most. Cons: I think he's a PIMP in real life. So if he can get away from his girls he should be alright. Although something to worry about. Playaaa Play on..

GS3K - Midfielder - Pros: Great aim, Great comms. Has been killing it on support. Can play D as well. Cons: A busy man; Availability perhaps might be an issue.

T2:
Ne0 - good runner will be one of the best.
ArC - good runner will be one of the best.
ricochet - Good player to have, fun to play with. Great fragging. Can make a big difference in any position he plays.
reflex - Majmoon, Serbian-Canadian monster that will shoot your testicles off on D.. needs just a little more experience in CTF.
Cookiemonster - A real good defender. Fun to play with as well.
Draymith - Good player, Lots of CTF experience. A big sissy at times. Can be toxic, but gets over it really quick and gets his head back into the game.
ph34r - One of my old teammates although I haven't played with him in UT4. He did well at the UT4 Epic Games LAN. So this guy can hold him own vs top players.
Sonic|^ - Good overall player, I laughed alot playing with and against this guy for some reason. Good teammate.
BBanks: Strat stealer( ), has great aim. Will be one of the best midfielders in the future.
RoOkIe - Good fragger, should learn midfield.
Killing - Good fragger/defender
pb - Utility. Good comms.
dasnaksta - Good defender
Darth|UA| - Solid player overall.
InfamousRaider - Solid aim, lots of experience in UT CTF.
Numb - good defender
Steel - Needs more gametime.

T3:
Paw - Hype man. Great teammate. Stolid at everything. Best pick in this tier.
nanners - new to ctf will be solid
FALLACY - good defender
linoleumbonaparte - experienced at running offense
nvz - good player will be even better in the future.
rev - decent cover/mid
KingKilla - Rock N Roll and drugs. Spaz when he runs O, but can frag the defenders well.
repetegg - Good player, bad ping.
khxmz - Good cover but nomic
facial - Experienced and good all around player
dazed - good all around player, clutch
SunnY - Great aimer. Utility player.

crux - Mid tier solid defender

BlueCloud - Not a strong fragger. Times and Plays correct CTF though.
beck - I don't think I've seen him play, but he should be a good fragger.

mogwai - Good comms. Not a strong fragger, does alright with a good team who knows where to place him.
Monk - Weak fragger, I didn't see much from him in last pugs.
