I had a big hand in bringing over nitro from DM to sDOM. I bertha'd slimetime. The action in those two maps is a lot less segregated than some of the other sdom maps. MountainMan is in a league all its own right now when it comes to cohesive team play and the potential for diverse and unique strategies.

Rankin is alright, could use a few tweaks but it's still more fun than olden or gharden.

Of all the beta maps I've played (rickocet, mojo, mountainman, bloodrun), the one that had by far the most potential was bloodrun. It just needed some changes, but I haven't been able to test the latest version yet.

There just isn't enough activity to test maps. Mojo might be vastly improved with the latest changes, idk. I've never played rankin, but it looked solid in the couple pugs I specced. Mountainman isn't league worthy as long as the bath and falls cps are so close together, imo. We don't need more frag-based maps, I'd like to see something interesting.

I still say quality > quantity in the maplist, and right now nothing has been proven good enough in my eyes.

If I were to place my bets on which of the current maps could end up working out the most, I'd say bloodrun and rankin or aerowalk (depending on how much work gets done to each).

Bloodrun was the worst of the new maps I played. Haven't played the most recent edit though. MountainMan and Rankin were good.

So update:

I played Rankin today and it plays excellent, really enjoyed it. I played high, found the map to have a solid flow with many opportunities to overcome fragpower via positioning, good powerup placement, just enough opportunity to help other cps without overdoing it (which is the problem with deck and mountainman). It was tough to get a good amprun in, but with some more map knowledge I think a good player could be really effective with it. Definitely my first choice, among the maps I've played, for a league addition.

Hoping to try the newest bloodrun next. It got a bad rap due to problems with earlier versions (first it was the clusterfuck at lava, then it was the clusterfuck at low). But if the latest version fixes those issues, it could be something really special.

ok, ive played quite a few beta maps

I'll start off the post with a miracle post like my name, Windigo map mountainman is a solid map. It has come a long way since he presented it. And I vote for that to be added to the league. I like to give windigo a hard time but that map is very solid. He really did improve that map ALOT.

Bloodrun, Sorry ulo, I surprisingly liked ur original versions better then your newer one but if the community has a different view. Your map still isn't as bad as curse or deck in my opinion for an sdom map.

Ranking: GREAT MAP, For the players who have played 2k4 its kinda one sided when its tested out on pugs.. But if people actually learn the map, then it has great potential.

Under: i haven't played it, the only thing ill comment though is i love Under in ut2004. But in 99, sometimes I feel like lifts and other shit cause way to many problems.

Ricochet: despite the feedback rickjames got, I really enjoyed this map and i honestly thing a lot more would if it was able to be upscaled.

That is my 2 cents have a good day

Proposed Maplist:
BloodRun
Campgrounds
Ghardhen
MountainMan
Nitro
Olden (Low armor moved to old position)
Peak
Rankin
Seraphim
SlimeTime
Tempest (Drop to low blocked or spawn next to the hole removed)
Typhoon

Proposed Map Selection:
Captains select maps by Wednesday so that teams have 72+hrs to practice for the game on Sunday. It will be straight picking and a team cannot pick the same map twice in the regular season.

Honestly, I haven't played the new Bloodrun but if it's anything like the first rendition I would be very disappointed to see it added. I don't know why Olden wasn't removed before Curse was, Olden is absolute shit. I do feel like Campgrounds gets a lot of love due to the Diamondsword effect, "It's always been there so we should keep it" kind of thing.

I'm pretty happy with the list though, it's really not that bad.

IMO Bloodrun hasn't been pugged nearly enough to be in the league. Rankin and MountainMan are suitable. Olden is trash and should be removed.

sDOM-RankinXtest6Le14 25
sDOM-RankinXtest2LE14 3
sDOM-MountainMan-beta 8
sDOM-MountainMan-beta2 3
sDOM-MountainMan-beta3 8
sDOM-BloodRun11 1
sDOM-BloodRun113 2
sDOM-BloodRun121 1
sDOM-BloodRun1219 5

Totals:
Rankin - 28
MountainMan - 19
BloodRun - 9

Just to throw the statistics behind my statement.

As far as Olden goes,
sDOM-OldenLE14 13
DOM-Olden-sDOM 6
Rather unpopular for pugging, at least.

Olden isn't pugged because it requires teamplay

I think having an even number of maps is a really bad idea when it comes to tiebreaker maps. Rankin is really good so should be in.

I haven't played the latest version of bloodrun, but i'm not sure it was league level the last time I did.

MountainMan did feel quite frag heavy, but it hasn't really been tested enough with high fragging teams who know the map to determine that properly - just the feeling I get. I liked it personally but i can see why some didn't.

Never played Tempest low personally so can't express an opinion on it but I wasn't aware there was a huge amount of demand for it being changed.

I'm ok with Olden armor being moved back though.

More biased rick nonsense.

Frag counts of the five most recent games played on each map:

mountain man
274
277
274
276
232
280
250
242
236
272
2613 frags

Gharden
283
271
287
317
327
224
273
238
257
287
3081 frags

Nitro
288
303
300
271
311
320
275
242
276
330
2916 frags

campgrounds
257
313
286
302
222
251
288
207
304
231
2661 frags

Seraphim
318
333
273
295
305
273
276
295
271
206
2845 frags

peak
244
260
273
257
300
262
193
331
218
321
2659 frags

Mountain man wasn't capped out in those games, which means it was played longer than the other maps. Most minutes played with the lowest frag count. One of the games of mountain man had the team down by 50 frags winning. Real fraggy and brainless indeed. You'd think a small map with the least frag count would be nuanced and every bit as sophisticated in its layout as other maps boasting more simple layouts with higher frag counts, but that's not the case, because rick says so.

Bloodrun - this map isn't ready at all to be a league map imo , it still requires testing and fixing spawns/teleports.
Olden - lol , I hope that one of the only maps that requires actual team play between the points will not be removed.
Mountainman - who ever claims this map is frag heavy probably didnt play it too much. you can win this while getting outfragged(and i know this because i usually do) , and its one of the more rewarding maps in that manner.

I'd add LOIO (Low Orbit Ion Cannon lulz) DOM map if someone ever going to release it. Hahaha. Will wait and see.

Anyway... back on topic.. most of the maps that are being mentioned here, I don't even know them. I probably would end up waiting until I get to test it offline before playing it the next day or so. But do include darren's map, and he is working on another one I'm waiting for it to be released.
