I prefer to have a separation between defenders or attackers.
imo it's better, and more fair in spreading your total salary, to rank ($) all players to their position, and relate their salary to 'their' group.
meaning you have 1500$ attackers and 1500$ defenders.
I don't see why you could walk away as a captain by buying 1500 defender (Serenity) and save money by buying the 2nd best attacker who should be rated 1490$ in stead of the 1450$ now for example.
Activity or recent results (kotg) should also be rewarded.
In no real particular order since if someone has a very good day he could be decisive in every situation.

For me the defenders list is easier to make than the attackers list somehow.
There's a lot of golden oldies around but I really doubt they would own this top 10, who are regularly playing. But who knows.
Anyway the skill of a big bunch of people (also in top 10) is so close after 15 years of UT; there's no big gap anymore.
Anyone can shoot 45% acc and 65%+ effies, or have multi kill clutch-abilities to take a flag out.
