is Cafe having a meltdown?

I got banned from ut4pugs today for making jokes.

i dont think making a joke at reflex's expense, in a context that only reflex would get, warrants any sort of threat of ban. i also don't think players who have known each other for years on end giving each other a hard time warrants a ban either. i was told i was not immune to bans, which came out of nowhere, and then implied that cafe was being a nazi. which resulted in said ban. just because he has an @ does not mean i have to respect him. you have to treat other people with respect in order to get it back. in all honesty i shouldnt even have to make a post, but throwing out bans like this is ridiculous. there should not be a thought police lurking in the pug channel.

there are only a few things that i truly think warrant a ban, namely deadpugging, interrupting teamspeak, aliasing, and talking down to new players.

im not exactly sure what you mean by turds running rampant. im not on constantly because i use mibbit for now, but i havent really seen any sort of consistent disturbance from people speaking in the channel, aside from chicken/sly.

but i do think this reaction is overboard. moderating the channel and having to go through a field test just to get voice to pug is not going to be friendly to new players.

I'm not mentioning any names, but I think berating teammates on voice in a pug should be a bannable offense too. I've heard more of that by community leaders directing it at both new and experienced players more in a month of ctf pugging than in my entire ut career. Shit is ridiculous considering it's literally just a video game that people play to have fun. There are no excuses.

I know buddy is a troll and all and can be quite annoying sometimes and funny other times, but maybe more level headed people should be in control. I certainly don't want raging depressed nerds to dictate how I play competitive ut, but I have a feeling that I don't have a choice.
