Chicken UT and Windows 8/8.1 compatibility issues

Hi all,

I tried getting UT installed on a friends laptop, see if we can still get some fresh meat into the game but it seems to be having some compatibility issues with Windows 8, maybe it's just the chicken MLUT version but i can't see why, is anyone else having the trouble and does anybody know the solution or have link for a compatible version?

May be just change the render.
opengl to d3d9 or reverse

Yes i will get him to give this a go thanks, tho the problem seems to be something else, what strikes me as unusual is the UT.exe do not have their usual icons, they seem to be more generic windows ones and when you click the .exe it gives a windows error. it doesn't even get as far as loading, tried to run it as admin or in various compatibility modes but no luck
