[KOTG.I] PROPOSED KOTG MAPLIST!

Greetings ladies and gentleboys,

I promised a solidified maplist at least two weeks before the tournament however this is my first and hopefully last proposed maplist. The maps will be as follows unless someone is able to bring up a compelling argument on why we should not be using a map. The opening map will be Deck16 as it is a classic and plays extremely well and the finale will be on Malevolence which gets a nod for many of the same reasons. These two maps will not be open for debate. The three proposed maps will be as follows:

Thoth is an Egyptian themed map that was played in the last KOTR. It was fairly high fragging and it has a nice pace to it. There are a few main areas that can be controlled but it overall has a search and destroy type feel and is not too open. I don't expect unanimous support for this map but feel it is good enough that it deserves a play in the inaugural tournament.

Agio is a map that I considered for SOTF but at the last minute, opted to remove it. It's a medium sized map made by DavidM and it provides a decent battleground for iDM. It is the only completely new map to the rotation but like all of the other maps, I think it has a pretty decent pace and the cream of the crop should be able to separate themselves.

Bellicose was the final map in KOTR.IV. It is extremely high fragging and there are some spots that can be exploited. Nonetheless, it's a really solid map for iDM and after playing such a prominent role in the last iDM tourney, it is not ready to sit on the sidelines yet.

The proposed five maps are: Deck16, Thoth, Agio, Bellicose and Malevolence. Is everyone content with this list or is anyone outraged? Next year in KOTG.II, I'll be looking to add another 1-2 maps in the hopes of keeping the list fresh. Might run a mapping contest and get some legit new content.

Agio sucks, the two other maps I've not played lol.. but I'm a noob so it doesn't matter, will suck on any map, good or bad.

haven't played agio yet, like all of the other maps that are proposed. Voted yes.

Thoth: I remember this one being fun to play, does require abit of insight spawn wise and where to go.
Bellicose: Always enjoyable in pugs, enough spots for everyone so it evens out.

Edit: Played agio and i dont like it, pales in comparison to the other maps that were proposed / are already in the map pool, also have to mention that there are soundbugs literally everywhere in the map where i get very cracky sound. :?

This map list is missing Ictus , the map is fast paced and seems to have some nice high fragging. Haven't played Thoth but other than that map list looks good.

Loved how Tooth was kept (from screenshot was the best map i played last season).

Malevolence is one of the worst maps to be played on this kind of tournament, specially as a final map...I think i've discussed this on GU already? I'm having a deja vu feeling.

Things that are a no go: spawns, size, architecture of the map itself. Things in favor: mrgrins using the boots and doing another one of those monster kills :mrgreen:

As in KOTR II i'm passing due to the final map. Best of luck though!

Wow, malevolence? Really happy about it. Deck16 as a 1st map is also very good. but.. the rest of maps looks so-so and agio sucks. I won't hit the finals, so no malevolence..no much interests.

Bellicose not good, the textures are hard to see, and have point for abuse very important.

Ok, so thanks to d3r whom would help me out from uK forum but I got few frigging complaint.

Why renaming everything as i-whatever? You guys sound like an apple fan boys!
Plus, it's really easier to leave it to DM-* prefix, as iDM-* prefix can be made in mapvote without renaming the map.
Also, I hope you didn't really rename every map with different prefix and stuff. Why need to waste another bunch of time (bandwidth for some, if so) to download the same map?

Anyway, voting for the map:
Thoth and Agio is ok. Bellicose is no, there is 1 spawn point by the ramp and as you look up, there is a HOM effect and it can be confusing for some.

I'm disappointed to not see written disapproval for the final map from the top tier fraggers (the map directed at them). I also know for a fact most of the heavy hitters disagree even though quietly...

I honestly never liked Bellicose something else should replace it and definitly for the "last map" or just switch it with anything.... very boring to play and watch :\

Did you mean, you edited the map as iDM prefix with removing the NW placement and put instagib there? I thought the instagib mod usually replace the weapons in the map.

If so, there are mutators that can be used in mapvote without any need of editing the map. I just find it pretty lame having to download particular map for a different prefix when it can be set up in settings.
