Teams look fairly even across the board. I thought I'd do a quick preliminary rankings with who I think the starting five will be.
1) PACO
PACO | JYB | BBZ | Insanity | Spriggan
Defense: JYB/Spriggan
Offense: PACO/bbz/Insanity
Paco drafted a very nice team and this is the favorite to win this division if all goes to plan. Jyb should be able to give solid directives to Spriggan and if they can mesh well, they will be a nightmare for offenses. That leaves a very solid offensive trio of BBZ/PACO and Tyler.
2) MIRACLE
Hatchet | Disco | Noobx | Caspa | Miracle/Rev
Defense: Noobx/Caspa
Offense: Disco/Hatchet/Rev or Miracle
I think Miracle drafted a solid team here. He took a bit of a gamble taking Noobx since he's not very active but he has assured hatchet he will be available and active this season. If Noobx can anchor d and hatchet is free'd up to run full o, this team should easily make playoffs and could go for a deep run.
3) RAIN
Rain | Paleface | Sens | Rapture | Pulip
Defense: Rain/Rapture
Offense: Paleface/Sens/Pulip
I think Rain took a bit of a gamble going with rapture. I only played with him one time about a year ago and I was very impressed even when he was rusty. If he starts playing and gets back into good form, this is a strong D. Paleface is one of the best frag heavy runners in the league coupled with sens and pulip should be able to steam roll some defenses.
4) SCREAM
Ramdrop | Snky | NP ^ | Booth | Scream
Defense: Ramdrop/LP
Offense: Snky/NP^/Scream
Ramdrop has been playing at a very high level and consistently dropping 50 acc performances. LP was extremely under rated this season is a solid 2nd defender. NP/Snky/Scream should be able to get flags out if they can develop some chemistry.
1) MONK
Defense: Blackout/Seeya
Offense: Monk/Sonic/Convict
This is perhaps the most even group in the league but I gotta give the edge to Monk who had a great draft. They will probably be forced to play three d as they are lacking in a solid 2nd defender unless they decide to put convict on d leaving them without a real third o. Seeya was very underrated in this draft and if he can step up and let the offense run, they will give opposing defenses fits. Lineage is also a solid defender and could take the place of seeya if necessary.
2) Sauron
Defense: Natrix/Bug
Offense: Sauron/Loque/KnockoutDad
Another tough call but I think Angus put together a solid team here. Nate has been pugging his ass off and coupled with Bug they should be able to lock down the base. On offense is perhaps the heaviest fragging trio who will make spawning difficult for opposing teams.
3) Pun
Defense: Shots/Risus
Offense: Mp5/Kengzta/Scott
After typing out this defense, I immediately considered bumping them to the top of the list. Risus/shots is the best D in this league. With Risus getting a new 144 hz monitor and vid card expect these guys to leave opposing offenses in tears. What they seem to be lacking is a solid flag runner. All these guys can get flags out but none are super star runners. Darkside is a solid sub for Scott if necessary and could start some maps over him.
4) Ulo
Defense: Rav/Madteta
Offense: Bear/K-os/tnz
At the bottom of the most stacked group we find Ulo. Very strong and dynamic defense but lacking in offense. Bear has been showing signs of his former self and could prove me wrong. Could possibly look to trade tnz or danon3 for a solid offensive player?
1) White
Defense: Serenity/Annihilator
Offense: White/Nob/Kyuken
White was gifted Serenity with the fourth pick in the draft, instantly becoming a contender. Serenity is perhaps the best player in the league if his ego can be catered to. White is one of the few captains capable of doing so. Originally white was planning on benching himself but I think this is their strongest line up. Hertz can jump in for solid D but I don't think he will mesh well with Serenity.
2) Kylewins
Defense: ke/Apok
Offense: Kyle/humpty/Kud
Kyle took a playbook out of his veterans manual and managed to snag apok and humpty in consecutive picks. This defense is not the strongest, but their talent is probably most evenly dispersed throughout all five players which should lead to solid chemistry.
3) RickJames
Defense: Snap/Xeno
Offense: Cyrax/Gzt/Akito??
RJ has officially betrayed his euro roots and picked cyrax with his 2nd pick. All three of his 1st picks were oustanding in Snap/Cy and Gzt but after that I'm not sure what he was going for. I have not seen Xeno play much ictf but he was great in sdom and sniper leagues so that should easily carry over. I'm not sure who their third offensive player will be.
4) FlowX
Defense: Riven/Joschde
Offense: FlowX/Vega/Cromaniac
FlowX almost went full German here. He has a solid d and fragging team but I don't see where their o is going to come from besides FlowX. If Cro steps up and lives up to his KOTG hype, this team could do well.
1) Massie
Defense: Mass/Banko
Offense: Dewsick/Crunk/Palak
This is another team with a nice distribution of talent which should lead to solid chemistry. Mass and Banko can hold down flags. Crunk and Palak are both great role players who are very aware. With Dewsick putting up 200 frags a map, this team should easily win this divison.
2) Fisk
Defense: Fisk/Fail
Offense: Sunny/Kowa/Zein
Fisk attempted to put together a post rage team but wasn't able to get any farther than him and Sunny. He spent his first pick on the offense powerhouse that is Sunny but wasn't able to get a strong secondary D to play alongside him. This will be another team that might only have the option of employing a three d strategy.
3) Bas
Defense: Viperz/Dev
Offense: Rum/Steel/pokerFACE
Bas opted to go for a high powered offense in lieu of anchor defense with his first two picks in Steel and Rummy. Rummy and Steel is the strongest duo on offense this season. Viperz and Dev will have to step up big in order for this line up to work. Poker is a very smart player and should be able to fill in some holes.
4) Mng
Defense: Finalz/mng
Offense: IR/DYA/DAM!
This team has a strong Euro influence so I am not as familiar with these players as others. Speaking from past experience playing with IR, he does not really rust and will be into top playing form in no time. DYA seems to find himself on teams that make deep runs so there must be a correlation there.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE, LOOK FORWARD TO A GREAT SEASON!
