Can Anybody Explain How Players Time Power-ups?

I know a lot of the better players are able to "time power-ups", I hear that phrase mentioned a lot, but I don't understand exactly how its done. Could someone explain this to me?

It depends on the timing. If the powerup is, say, 55 seconds, when its picked up at 7:47 remaining the easiest way for me to remember is just subtracting a minute a adding 5 seconds. So 6:47+5 is 6:52. Easy math and easy to time.

In team games, certain people will time certain pups. Or maybe one guy will concentrate on timing. In duels its probably a mixed bag with timing the best pups and weapons and just luck with map control. Usually all it takes is getting the pup down a couple times then the opponent loses focus completely with regard to timing.

Timing in ut4 is a little easier with regards to the math. 30 for everything except belt, amp, and keg. belt at 60, the rest at 90. They don't spawn right at map start, so gather weapons and position yourself for them. Good duelers will delay the pickups to offset the times.

Itbwoukd be considered a cheat if you use something to time. That said, you could use a smartphone and it would be undetectable. Would be easy to make a timing app.

Place a trans at the flag and push to the armor every minute 30 or however long. Would only leave the flag uncovered for a second or two

Yeah mane I'd just say that in UT4 it's actually easier than in previous iterations, in that the powerups are either 30, 60, or 90 seconds. That helps a lot. Honestly, the more you do it, the more it will just become a mental reflex. You'll also be able to time the power ups when certain weapons come up, because they also spawn every 30 seconds, and depending on whether or not you're dueling, you can often control the map doing this. I could be talking completely out of my asshole but hey that's pretty much it.

most practical way of timing things are picking up weapons/ammo that are near by the armor and power ups(especially armor) and if you can visibly see the weapons/ammo have respawned (or just respawned), you can have it timed almost down to the milisecond as to when the armor is going to be spawning.
